WPL 2027 schedule in short: the fifth season of the Women’s Premier League starts on Thursday, 14 January 2027 and ends with the final on Sunday, 7 February 2027. Five teams play 22 matches. The BCCI announced these dates on 16 September 2026 but has not yet published the fixture list or confirmed the venues.

That is normal for the WPL. In 2026, the full schedule only came out after the auction, about six weeks before the opening match. This year the auction was on 28 October, so the fixture list should follow in November or early December. Until then, the best clues are what the BCCI has said, what has been reported from the WPL Governing Council, and how the last four seasons were scheduled.

This year’s window is the earliest and shortest yet. The season starts five days later than 2026 but has to finish a week before the new ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, which India hosts from 14 to 28 February at the same two grounds expected to stage the WPL. That tight gap is the main reason Mumbai and Vadodara are the favourites to host: the grounds, staff and broadcast set-up will already be in place.

Only two dates are fixed so far: the opening match on 14 January and the final on 7 February. The pairings for the opener have not been announced. In each of the last three seasons, the defending champions played in the first match, so RCB, who won the 2026 title, are likely to be in the 2027 opener.

Format

How the WPL 2027 schedule works

League stage: all five teams play each other twice, which makes eight matches per team and 20 league matches in total. Two points are awarded for a win. If teams finish level on points, net run rate decides their position.

Playoffs: only three teams go through. The team that finishes top of the table goes straight to the final, which is a big advantage: they get a few days of rest while the others play on. The teams in second and third place meet in the Eliminator, and the winner goes to the final. The teams in fourth and fifth place are knocked out after the league stage.

Why there will be double-headers: 22 matches in 25 days does not leave much room. The league stage needs a gap before the Eliminator and another before the final, and teams need travel days if the season is split between two cities. That means some days will have two matches, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, usually at weekends. The 2026 season fitted 22 matches into 28 days, so 2027 is even tighter.

Two-city split: the WPL has used a “caravan” model since 2024, playing the first half of the league in one city and then moving to another. In 2026, Navi Mumbai hosted the first 11 matches and Vadodara hosted the other 11, including both playoff games. A similar split is likely for 2027, with Mumbai hosting one leg and Vadodara or Varanasi the other.

Timings

WPL 2027 match timings: India and overseas

The BCCI has not announced start times yet. In every season so far, most WPL matches have started at 7:30 PM IST, with the toss at 7:00 PM. On double-header days, the first match has started in the afternoon. The table below shows what those start times mean around the world, so overseas fans can plan ahead. In January, Australia and New Zealand are on summer time, which is why evening matches in India fall in the middle of the night there.

Teams

WPL 2027 schedule team-wise

Each team plays eight league matches. Every team page has its own match list, which we will fill in with dates and venues when the fixtures are out.

Delhi Capitals Women8Jemimah RodriguesDC Women schedule
Gujarat Giants Women8Ashleigh GardnerGG Women schedule
UP Warriorz8Meg LanningUP Warriorz schedule

Because there are only five teams, every side plays every other side twice, so nobody gets an easier draw. What can make a difference is the order of matches and where they are played. A team that plays most of its first-leg games at a ground that suits its bowlers can build an early lead. In 2026, RCB won six of their eight league games to top the table and went straight to the final, which shows how much the league position matters.

Look out for back-to-back matches too. With 22 matches in 25 days, some teams will have to play on consecutive days or travel between cities with little rest. Depth will matter. After the auction, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz carry the full 18, while Delhi Capitals and RCB have 17, so rotation won’t be a problem for anyone, but the quality of the last few names will.

Venues

WPL 2027 venues: host cities and stadiums

No venue has been officially announced. Here is where each candidate stands, based on reports from the WPL Governing Council meeting in September.

According to reports after the Governing Council meeting on 15 September, Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium has been picked as one of the two venues. The second city is a choice between Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium, which hosted the second half of the 2026 season and the final, and a new stadium in Varanasi that is still being finished. The BCCI planned to inspect Varanasi before deciding, and at least one report said the chances of Varanasi hosting this season are low.

Both Brabourne and Kotambi will also host the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy from 14 to 28 February 2027, which makes them the practical choice: the pitches, floodlights and broadcast equipment can stay in place for both events.

Stadiums

WPL 2027 stadiums up close

Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai

Owner: Cricket Club of IndiaOpened: 1937WPL finals hosted: 2Status: reported host

The Brabourne Stadium in Churchgate, south Mumbai, is one of the oldest Test grounds in India and the home of the Cricket Club of India. It has a special place in WPL history: it staged matches in the very first season in 2023, including the first WPL final, when Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals. It hosted the final again in 2025, when MI beat DC by eight runs after making 149 for 7.

Pitch and conditions: the Brabourne square has generally been good for batting, with a quick outfield and short-ish boundaries square of the wicket. Evening dew in Mumbai can make the ball hard to grip later in the night, which is why captains have often chosen to bowl first. The 2025 final was a lower-scoring game, though, which shows spinners and slower bowlers can still matter in big matches.

How to reach: Churchgate railway station on Mumbai’s Western line is a short walk from the ground, which makes it one of the easiest stadiums in India to reach by public transport. Taxis and app cabs can drop you on Veer Nariman Road. Parking near the stadium is very limited on match days.

Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara

Owner: Baroda Cricket AssociationAlso called: BCA StadiumWPL finals hosted: 1 (2026)Status: favourite for second venue

The Kotambi Stadium, run by the Baroda Cricket Association, is one of India’s newest international grounds. It sits on the outskirts of Vadodara, away from the city centre. It made its WPL debut by hosting the opening leg of the 2025 season, and in 2026 it hosted the second half of the league, the Eliminator and the final.

Pitch and conditions: Kotambi has been a run-scoring ground in the WPL. The 2025 season opened here with RCB chasing a target of more than 200 against Gujarat Giants, and the 2026 final was the biggest match in WPL history: Delhi Capitals made 203 for 4 and RCB chased 204 with two balls to spare, the highest successful chase in any WPL or IPL final. Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll added 165 that night, a WPL record for any wicket. Captains who win the toss here are often happy to chase.

How to reach: the stadium is outside the city, so allow extra time. Most fans travel by app cab or private car from Vadodara city; Vadodara Junction railway station and Vadodara airport are the main arrival points for fans from other cities. Check the BCA or ticketing partner’s match-day transport notes before you travel.

Varanasi International Cricket Stadium, Ganjari

Planned capacity: 30,000Area: 30+ acresCost: about ₹450 croreStatus: under consideration

The new international stadium at Ganjari, on the outskirts of Varanasi, is the most talked-about venue in the WPL 2027 conversation. It is built with a Lord Shiva theme, including trident-shaped floodlights, and is planned to hold 30,000 spectators. If it hosts WPL matches, Varanasi would become the sixth city to stage the league and the first in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Is it ready? Not yet. Reports in September said the stadium was over 90% complete. The plan is to test it with a Ranji Trophy match first. The BCCI will only add it to the WPL schedule if it is ready by January and passes an inspection. Reports have been mixed: some say it has been shortlisted, while others say the chances for 2027 are remote.

Why it matters: UP Warriorz are based in Uttar Pradesh but play home games in Lucknow, and a Varanasi leg would bring top women’s cricket to fans in eastern UP and Bihar who have never had it close to home. If the WPL goes there and it works, the stadium is expected to host IPL matches in future too.

The WPL has changed its host cities every year. The first season was played entirely in Mumbai, at the Brabourne and DY Patil stadiums. In 2024 it moved to Bengaluru and Delhi, with RCB’s home crowd at the Chinnaswamy one of the highlights of the season. 2025 was the most spread out, with four cities: Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Mumbai. In 2026 it went back to two venues, Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, and moved forward into January.

The move to January is the biggest change. The first three seasons ran from late February or early March, just before the men’s IPL. Since 2026 the WPL has started in January, giving it its own space in the calendar. In 2027 that window is squeezed further by the new Women’s Champions Trophy in February.

Mumbai has been the WPL’s home base, hosting matches in three of the four seasons and two of the four finals. Vadodara has quickly become the second home of the WPL after two straight seasons, including the 2026 final. That history is why most reports expect those two cities again.

Tickets & viewing

WPL 2027 tickets and where to watch

Tickets have not gone on sale yet. Last season, sales opened on 26 December, about two weeks before the first match, and most league tickets started at ₹100. Prices, booking dates and the official ticketing partner for 2027 will be on our WPL 2027 tickets page as soon as they are announced.

The WPL 2026 final was streamed on JioHotstar in India. The broadcaster and streaming details for WPL 2027 will be confirmed closer to the season. If you want to follow squad changes before then, the WPL 2027 auction results show who every team bought on 28 October, and the final squads list all 88 players.

iSportsLeague take

Our prediction: WPL 2027 will be split between Mumbai and Vadodara, with Brabourne hosting the first leg and Kotambi hosting the second leg, the Eliminator and the final, just like 2026. It is the simplest plan for the BCCI with the Champions Trophy at the same grounds one week later.

Varanasi is the wild card. If the stadium is ready, a few league matches there would be a big moment for women’s cricket in eastern UP, but we expect the BCCI to wait for a season before moving the WPL somewhere so new. For fans, the key point is this: if Kotambi hosts the playoffs again, book those tickets as soon as sales open, and expect plenty of runs.
