Delhi Capitals Women Squad 2027
Delhi Capitals have reached the final in every WPL season and lost all four. They have kept 13 players for 2027, led by Jemimah Rodrigues, and have ₹1.1 crore to fill five spots at the auction. Part of our Women’s Premier League 2027.
DC Women 2027 key details
Delhi Capitals women squad 2027 in short: 13 players are retained, Jemimah Rodrigues is captain, and five spots are open, only one of them for an overseas player. DC have ₹1.1 crore to spend, about ₹22 lakh per open spot.
No team has been more consistent in the WPL, and no team has had more heartbreak. Delhi have played in all four finals, losing to Mumbai Indians in 2023 and 2025 and to RCB in 2024 and 2026. The 2026 final hurt the most: DC made 203 for 4, the second-highest first-innings total in any women’s T20 final, and still lost as RCB chased it with two balls to spare.
DC’s answer for 2027 is to keep the same top group. Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues, Annabel Sutherland and Shafali Verma were all retained at ₹2.2 crore each, and Laura Wolvaardt, Chinelle Henry and Sree Charani stay too. This page has the full squad with prices, the squad by role, our best XI, the auction plan, the captain, coach and owner, DC’s record in every season, and our view on whether this is finally their year.

DC Women schedule 2027: match list, dates and venues
DC Women will play eight league matches in WPL 2027, two against each of the other four teams: Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, Mumbai Indians Women, Gujarat Giants Women and UP Warriorz. The season runs from Thursday, 14 January to Sunday, 7 February 2027. After the league stage, the team that finishes top goes straight to the final, while the teams in second and third place meet in the Eliminator. The fourth and fifth-placed teams are knocked out.
Matches are expected to be split between two host cities. Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium is reported as confirmed, with Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium or a new stadium in Varanasi as the likely second venue. In past seasons, most WPL matches have started at 7:30 PM IST, with a few afternoon games on double-header days.

DC Women squad by role
Batters
DC have one of the best top orders in the league. Shafali Verma is the most aggressive opener in Indian cricket, and Laura Wolvaardt, the South Africa captain, is one of the most reliable. Jemimah Rodrigues bats at three or four and made a big score in the 2026 final. Niki Prasad, who captained India to the Under-19 World Cup, and Deeya Yadav are the young Indian back-ups.
The loss of Lizelle Lee, who had a strong season at the top in 2026, is a surprise. Wolvaardt is expected to take her place alongside Shafali.
Wicketkeepers
This is DC’s clearest problem. With Taniya Bhatia released, Madiwala Mamatha is the only keeper in the squad. She was retained at ₹10 lakh and has little WPL experience. DC will almost certainly buy a keeper at the auction, and Bhatia herself is in the pool at ₹30 lakh.
All-rounders
Marizanne Kapp is one of the best new-ball bowlers in the world and a dangerous middle-order bat. Annabel Sutherland adds seam bowling and big hitting, and Chinelle Henry gave DC the late flourish in the 2026 final, smashing 35 off 15 balls to take them past 200. These three are why Delhi can post huge totals.
Bowlers
Nandni Sharma was the find of 2026. The young seamer shared the Purple Cap with Sophie Devine with 17 wickets, on a ₹20 lakh contract. Sree Charani, the left-arm spinner, earned a ₹1.3 crore retention after a big season, and Minnu Mani bowls off-spin. Lucy Hamilton is a young Australian left-arm seamer. With Alana King and Sneh Rana gone, DC have lost two experienced spinners.
DC Women players to watch in 2027
Shafali Verma
The most aggressive opener in Indian cricket can win a game in the first six overs. Retained at ₹2.2 crore, she is the player who sets DC’s scoring rate. Her starts often decide whether Delhi reach 180 or 200.
Nandni Sharma
The young seamer was the surprise of 2026, sharing the most wickets in the league with 17 on a ₹20 lakh deal. Teams will now study her, so her second season will show whether she is a long-term star.
Marizanne Kapp
Kapp takes the new ball and bats in the middle order. She has been at the centre of all four DC finals, and her experience in big games is something Delhi will lean on again.
DC Women best playing XI for WPL 2027
This XI uses four overseas players. Delhi have five in the squad, so Lucy Hamilton starts on the bench.
| No. | Player | Role | Job in the XI |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Shafali Verma | Batter | Explosive opener |
| 2 | Laura Wolvaardt | Batter (OS) | Steady opener, replaces Lizelle Lee |
| 3 | Jemimah Rodrigues (C) | Batter | Runs the innings in the middle overs |
| 4 | Annabel Sutherland | All-Rounder (OS) | Hitter and seamer |
| 5 | Marizanne Kapp | All-Rounder (OS) | New-ball bowler and middle-order bat |
| 6 | Chinelle Henry | All-Rounder (OS) | Finisher and seamer |
| 7 | Niki Prasad | Batter | Young Indian batter |
| 8 | Madiwala Mamatha (WK) | Keeper | Only keeper before the auction |
| 9 | Sree Charani | Bowler | Left-arm spin |
| 10 | Minnu Mani | Bowler | Off-spin |
| 11 | Nandni Sharma | Bowler | Joint Purple Cap winner in 2026 |
Why this XI works: Delhi’s top six can post 200, as they showed in the 2026 final. Kapp, Sutherland, Henry and Nandni give them four seam options, and Charani and Minnu Mani cover the spin.
What will change: a keeper-batter from the auction will replace Mamatha, and an experienced spinner could come in for Minnu Mani. DC’s one overseas slot is most likely to go on spin cover, but that player would not get into this XI without one of the four overseas stars missing out.
Who DC Women kept, and who they let go
DC retained 13 players and released six: Lizelle Lee, Alana King, Sneh Rana, Taniya Bhatia, Pragati Singh and Eddla Srujana.
Lizelle Lee was the biggest surprise of retention day in the whole league. The South African opener had a strong season at the top in 2026, but DC chose Wolvaardt and the money it freed. Lee is not in the auction pool.
Alana King, the Australian leg-spinner, and Sneh Rana, India’s experienced off-spinning all-rounder, were the two senior spinners. Rana is in the auction at ₹30 lakh and could return. Taniya Bhatia, the keeper, is also in the pool at ₹30 lakh. Pragati Singh and Eddla Srujana were young back-ups.
The four ₹2.2 crore retentions (Kapp, Rodrigues, Sutherland and Shafali) took ₹8.8 crore of the purse. Add Charani and Henry at ₹1.3 crore each and Wolvaardt at ₹1.1 crore, and it is easy to see why only ₹1.1 crore is left.
DC Women auction plan: ₹1.1 cr for 5 slots
DC have ₹1.1 crore for five players, about ₹22 lakh a slot, with just one overseas place. They need at least two buys to reach 15 players.
Their shopping list is short and clear: a keeper, an experienced spinner, and Indian batting depth. The cheapest route back to last season’s balance is buying back their own players. Taniya Bhatia and Sneh Rana are both at ₹30 lakh base. If DC get both for under ₹70 lakh, they still have room for one overseas spinner and an uncapped Indian.
The risk is that UP Warriorz, with ₹3.75 crore, also need a keeper and could push Bhatia’s price beyond what Delhi can pay. DC may need a back-up target such as Uma Chetry.
Players DC Women could target on 28 October
| Player | Country | Role | Base price | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Taniyaa Bhatia | India | Keeper | ₹30 L | Buy back the keeper they released |
| Sneh Rana | India | All-Rounder | ₹30 L | Experienced spin and lower-order runs |
| Uma Chetry | India | Keeper | ₹30 L | Back-up keeper target if Bhatia goes high |
| Nonkululeko Mlaba | South Africa | Bowler | ₹30 L | Overseas left-arm spinner for the one OS slot |
| Shweta Sehrawat | India | Batter | ₹10 L | Cheap top-order depth |
Base prices are from the official auction list of 146 players. The auction starts at 5:30 PM IST on Wednesday, 28 October at the Grand Hyatt Kochi.
DC Women captain, coach and owner
| Role | Name | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Captain | Jemimah Rodrigues | Took over from Meg Lanning for 2026 |
| Head coach | Jonathan Batty | Head coach since the first season in 2023 |
| Owner | JSW GMR Cricket | Bought the team for ₹810 crore in 2023 |
| Home city | Delhi | Home ground: Arun Jaitley Stadium. WPL 2027 venues are not confirmed yet |
Jemimah Rodrigues became captain for 2026 after Meg Lanning, who led DC to the first three finals, moved to UP Warriorz in the mega auction. In her first season, Jemimah took DC to a fourth straight final, beating Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator.
Jonathan Batty, the former Surrey keeper and coach, has been head coach since 2023. He has built the most consistent team in the league, and he praised his players’ fight after the 2026 final, but the pressure to turn finals into a title is real.
DC are owned by JSW GMR Cricket, the joint venture that also owns the men’s Delhi Capitals. It paid ₹810 crore for the franchise in 2023. Neither the men’s nor the women’s Delhi team has yet won a title.
Delhi Capitals Women in the WPL: season by season
| Season | Finish | Captain | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | Runners-up (1st in league) | Meg Lanning | Topped the table, lost the final to MI by 7 wickets |
| 2024 | Runners-up (1st in league) | Meg Lanning | Topped the table, lost the final to RCB by 8 wickets |
| 2025 | Runners-up (1st in league) | Meg Lanning | Topped the table, lost the final to MI by 8 runs |
| 2026 | Runners-up | Jemimah Rodrigues | Beat GG in the Eliminator, lost the final to RCB by 6 wickets after making 203 |
Delhi’s league record is the best in the WPL. They topped the table in each of the first three seasons, which sent them straight to the final every time. In 2023, they were bowled out cheaply by MI’s bowlers at the Brabourne. In 2024, RCB dismissed them for 113 in Delhi. In 2025, they came closest, falling eight runs short of MI’s 149.
2026 was different. DC finished behind RCB in the league and had to win the Eliminator, which they did comfortably against Gujarat Giants. In the final, they batted brilliantly to reach 203 for 4, and for most of the chase it looked like enough. Then Mandhana and Voll’s record stand turned it.
Four finals in four years shows a team that is good enough to win. What DC have lacked is a bowling plan that holds up on the biggest night. That is why their spin and depth choices at this auction matter so much.
DC Women 2027 strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- The most consistent team in the WPL: four finals in four seasons.
- A top order of Shafali, Wolvaardt and Jemimah that can post 200.
- Three overseas all-rounders: Kapp, Sutherland and Henry.
- Nandni Sharma, joint Purple Cap winner in 2026, on a ₹20 lakh deal.
- A coach who has been with the team since day one.
Weaknesses
- Only one keeper, Madiwala Mamatha, with little WPL experience.
- Lost their two senior spinners, Alana King and Sneh Rana.
- Only ₹1.1 crore for five slots.
- One overseas slot left, so little room to add star cover.
- Four lost finals: the pressure on the big night is now part of the story.
Our view: Delhi are good enough to win WPL 2027. Their batting is as strong as anyone’s, and their overseas all-rounders give them balance. The fix they need is cheap: a keeper and a senior spinner, and both of their own released players fit the bill. If they get Taniya Bhatia and Sneh Rana back, this squad is better balanced than the one that made 203 in the final.
We expect DC to reach the playoffs again. Whether they finally win depends on their bowling at the death in a knockout match. Our prediction: a fifth straight playoff place, and a real chance to end the wait.
