India lands in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan for the 20th Asian Games (19 September – 4 October 2026) with one job on its mind: beat the number that changed everything. Two years ago in Hangzhou, India crossed a century of medals for the first time — 107 in all (28 gold, 38 silver, 41 bronze) — and finished fourth on the table. This time a 492-athlete contingent across 35 sports is out to prove that haul wasn’t a one-off. This is your live hub for the campaign: the medal tracker, the schedule, the squad, and exactly how to watch it all from India. We refresh the data right through the fortnight.

The stars India will be watching
Squads are locked in sport by sport, but these are the names most Indian fans will be refreshing their phones for.
The cricketers — India’s biggest draw. Both the men’s and women’s teams arrive as reigning Asian Games champions. Shreyas Iyer captains a men’s T20 side stacked with names like Jasprit Bumrah and teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi; Harmanpreet Kaur leads the women, with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy. Two gold medals to defend, and a nation that lives for this game — no prizes for guessing where the eyeballs go first.
PV Sindhu (badminton). A two-time Olympic medallist and the face of Indian badminton, headlining a 20-strong shuttler squad that also features Lakshya Sen and the Olympic men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.
Manu Bhaker (shooting). India’s double Olympic medallist anchors a shooting squad that has quietly become the country’s most reliable medal factory — it delivered 22 of the 107 in Hangzhou.
Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting). The Olympic medallist leads a five-strong lifting team and remains one of India’s surest podium bets.
Aman Sehrawat (wrestling) and Lovlina Borgohain (boxing). Two Olympic medallists carrying India’s combat-sport hopes — and the boxers arrive fresh off a record Commonwealth Games run of 10 medals.
One big absence to note: reigning Asian Games javelin champion Neeraj Chopra has withdrawn after an ankle injury, so the men’s javelin gold India has grown used to is up for grabs this time.
India Squad for Asian Games 2026: The Full Sport-by-Sport List
This is India’s complete, up-to-date squad for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan (19 September – 4 October 2026) — every athlete, listed by sport, with their event, weight class or discipline. It’s a big, deep contingent chasing an even bigger number: India’s record 107-medal haul from Hangzhou 2023. We keep this page current as late changes come through, so bookmark it and check back through the fortnight.
Latest squad changes (live status)
A few names have shifted since the first list, so here’s what’s actually locked in:
- Neeraj Chopra (javelin) — OUT. The reigning champion has withdrawn with an ankle injury, taking one of India’s surest golds off the board.
- Jemimah Rodrigues (women’s cricket) — OUT, replaced by Pratika Rawal after a hamstring injury during The Hundred.
- Mukul Dahiya and Deepanshu (wrestling) — removed following doping-related violations.
- Gaurav Kumar Masoori (shooting) — dropped, replaced by Aakash Bharadwaj.
- Show-jumping team — excluded for not meeting the Sports Ministry’s selection criteria.
Entries can still change before the Games for injury, eligibility or selection reasons — treat the lists below as the current picture, not the final word.

How to watch India live (in India)
- TV: Live on Sony Sports Network channels, with commentary in multiple Indian languages — Sony’s fourth Asian Games in a row.
- Streaming: Live on Sony LIV, covering the whole Games across India and the wider subcontinent.
- Time difference: Japan (JST) runs 3.5 hours ahead of India (IST). So a 10:00 JST session tips off at 06:30 IST, and an 18:00 JST evening final lands at 14:30 IST — meaning the marquee sessions arrive in the middle of your Indian afternoon. A quick habit that helps: skim the SonyLIV schedule each morning to see which Indian athletes are on that day, since no single channel can carry every parallel event.
The big picture
India’s Hangzhou breakthrough wasn’t luck — it was depth. Shooting and athletics alone accounted for close to half the medals, and the statement wins came in cricket, kabaddi, badminton and hockey. Nagoya asks a harder question: can India do it again without one of its banker golds, now that Chopra is out? The answer probably rides on the same broad base — the shooters, the trackside squad, two cricket teams chasing back-to-back gold, and the grapplers and boxers on the mat. Match 2023 and it’s a triumph. Beat it, and India rewrites its own record books two Games running.
