Asian Games 2026 Indian Medalists: Winners List, Cash Prize & Rewards
Last Updated: 21 September 2026 — reflecting every Indian medal confirmed through Day 3 in Aichi-Nagoya (the women’s and men’s 10m air rifle finals and the mixed martial arts finals). This is a live page; the timestamp and tables are refreshed as new medals are confirmed.
1. Introduction
India is competing at the 20th Asian Games, being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October 2026. A contingent of around 501 Indian athletes is in action across the biggest edition of the Games so far — 43 sports, 71 disciplines and more than 460 medal events.
This page tracks two things at once:
- Every Indian medal confirmed at Asian Games 2026, updated as it happens.
- A verified record of Asian Games 2023 (Hangzhou), India’s best-ever campaign, for easy reference and comparison.
We also track the cash rewards that come with these medals. Prize money for Indian medallists is not a single figure — it can come from the Central Government, a State Government, a sports federation, an employer/institution, or other bodies. Each source has its own rules, and not every athlete receives the same total. Wherever a reward is only announced and not yet paid, we say so.
Because the Games are still on, the 2026 list below is partial and will grow. Numbers are live.

**The “Central Govt Award” column shows the amount an athlete is eligible for under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) cash-incentive scheme (see Section 5). It is an entitlement subject to application and verification — not money already received.
Also assured (colour to be decided): India’s women’s cricket team has already reached the gold-medal match after beating Bangladesh in the semi-final, guaranteeing at least a silver. The final is against Sri Lanka on 22 September 2026. It is not counted in the tally below until the medal is officially won.

Mixed Martial Arts — 1 medal (1 bronze)
- 🥉 Women’s Traditional 60kg — Suchika Tariyal — 21 Sep — India’s first medal in MMA at the Asian Games. She secured the bronze on reaching the semi-finals, where she lost to Singapore’s Teo Hui Hoon.
5. Asian Games 2026 Cash Prize for Indian Medalists
The Central Government reward is governed by the MYAS “Scheme of Cash Incentive to Medal Winners in International Sports Events and their Coaches” (amended as on 1 February 2025 — the version in force for these Games). (Source: Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.)
Central Government cash incentive — Asian Games (individual events, senior, open category):
| Medal | Central Government Award |
|---|---|
| 🥇 Gold | ₹30 lakh |
| 🥈 Silver | ₹20 lakh |
| 🥉 Bronze | ₹10 lakh |
Key rules (so these figures are read correctly):
- These are the amounts for individual events. Team events are paid differently — each member gets 75% of the individual amount (see Section 11).
- For the Asian Games specifically, an athlete who wins more than one medal is eligible for the incentive for each medal (for most other events only the highest medal counts).
- The award is claimed through the MYAS DBT portal within six months of the event, is subject to verification, and — per the scheme — does not constitute a legal right. Treat every figure here as an entitlement, not cash already disbursed.
On top of the Central award, an athlete may receive additional rewards from:
- State governments (varies widely by state — see Sections 9 and 10)
- National sports federations
- Employers (Railways, armed forces, public-sector units, police, etc.)
- Institutions and academies
- Other organisations and sponsors
A note on 2026 figures: at least one media report in August 2026 cited a further upward revision of the central scheme (higher Asian Games figures). We could not confirm that against an official government notification at the time of this update, so this page uses the verified official scheme (₹30/₹20/₹10 lakh). We will revise immediately if an official revision is published.
6. Asian Games 2026 Gold Medal Prize Money
How much cash prize does an Indian athlete get for an Asian Games gold medal?
Under the current Central Government scheme, an individual gold at the Asian Games carries ₹30 lakh from MYAS. A member of a gold-winning team gets ₹22.5 lakh (75% of the individual figure).
State governments can add substantially more. Kerala, for example, has announced ₹50 lakh for a gold for its athletes at these Games; West Bengal’s standing policy lists ₹5 crore for an Asian Games gold. So an Indian gold medallist’s total depends heavily on their home state and employer.
India has not yet won a gold at Asian Games 2026.
7. Asian Games 2026 Silver Medal Prize Money
How much for an Asian Games silver medal?
- Central Government: ₹20 lakh for an individual silver; ₹15 lakh for each member of a silver-winning team.
- State add-ons (examples): Kerala ₹30 lakh; West Bengal (policy) ₹4 crore.
India’s four silvers so far are all in shooting — Elavenil Valarivan (individual and team), the women’s team, the men’s team, and Himanshu Dhillon (individual). Elavenil and Dhillon each hold two silver-medal entitlements (individual + team) because of the Asian Games multiple-medal rule.
8. Asian Games 2026 Bronze Medal Prize Money
How much for an Asian Games bronze medal?
- Central Government: ₹10 lakh for an individual bronze; ₹7.5 lakh for each member of a bronze-winning team.
- State add-ons (examples): Kerala ₹20 lakh; West Bengal (policy) ₹2 crore.
India’s two bronzes so far: Rudrankksh Patil (men’s 10m air rifle) and Suchika Tariyal (MMA).
9. State-Wise Cash Rewards (Asian Games 2026)
Only officially announced 2026 rewards tied to a medallist are listed. We do not infer state rewards from previous years.
| State | Athlete | Medal | Announced Reward | Official Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kerala | Vidarsa K. Vinod | 🥈 Silver (women’s 10m air rifle team) | ₹30 lakh + government job under consideration | Kerala Sports Minister O. J. Janeesh (statement, 21 Sep 2026) |
Context (state policies announced before the Games, not yet tied to a specific 2026 medallist here):
- Kerala announced a pre-Games structure under “Operation Kalari”: ₹50 lakh (gold), ₹30 lakh (silver), ₹20 lakh (bronze), plus a ₹1 lakh advance to every Kerala participant and coach rewards (₹5/₹3/₹2 lakh). Vidarsa’s ₹30 lakh above falls under this.
- West Bengal (policy, May 2026): Asian Games gold ₹5 crore, silver ₹4 crore, bronze ₹2 crore.
- Delhi (policy, July 2025): Asian Games gold ₹3 crore, silver ₹2 crore, bronze ₹1 crore.
For India’s other current medallists (from Maharashtra, Haryana, Gujarat/Tamil Nadu and elsewhere):
No specific Asian Games 2026 state reward announcement was found at the time of this update.
10. Athlete-Wise Asian Games 2026 Reward Tracker
The “Central Award (per scheme)” figures are entitlements under the MYAS scheme, not disbursed money. A Confirmed Total is only meaningful once amounts are actually sanctioned/paid — which has not happened this early, so it is marked Pending.
| Athlete | Sport | Medal(s) | Central Award (per scheme) | State Reward | Other Reward | Confirmed Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elavenil Valarivan | Shooting | 🥈 Individual + 🥈 Team | ₹20 lakh + ₹15 lakh = ₹35 lakh | Not announced | — | Pending (not yet disbursed) |
| Himanshu Dhillon | Shooting | 🥈 Individual + 🥈 Team | ₹20 lakh + ₹15 lakh = ₹35 lakh | Not announced | — | Pending (not yet disbursed) |
| Rudrankksh Patil | Shooting | 🥉 Individual + 🥈 Team | ₹10 lakh + ₹15 lakh = ₹25 lakh | Not announced | — | Pending (not yet disbursed) |
| Vidarsa K. Vinod | Shooting | 🥈 Team | ₹15 lakh | ₹30 lakh (Kerala) | Govt job under consideration | Pending (not yet disbursed) |
| Sonam Maskar | Shooting | 🥈 Team | ₹15 lakh | Not announced | — | Pending (not yet disbursed) |
| Parth Mane | Shooting | 🥈 Team | ₹15 lakh | Not announced | — | Pending (not yet disbursed) |
| Suchika Tariyal | MMA | 🥉 Individual | ₹10 lakh | Not announced | — | Pending (not yet disbursed) |
Speculative or “promised” amounts without an official announcement are not counted.
11. Team Event Prize Money — How It Works
Government awards do not simply hand every team member the individual medal amount. Under the current MYAS scheme:
- In team events, each team member (including eligible bench/reserve players, per the sport’s rules) receives 75% of the incentive for the corresponding individual event.
- For the Asian Games, that works out to:
- Gold team member: ₹22.5 lakh (75% of ₹30 lakh)
- Silver team member: ₹15 lakh (75% of ₹20 lakh)
- Bronze team member: ₹7.5 lakh (75% of ₹10 lakh)
This is why, for example, each member of India’s silver-winning shooting teams is listed at ₹15 lakh, not ₹20 lakh. It is also why you should never multiply the full individual figure across every team member without checking the applicable scheme — the rules differ by event type and, sometimes, by sport. State rewards may follow their own team formulas, which have to be checked case by case.
12. Asian Games 2023 Indian Medalists (Historical)
India’s Hangzhou 2023 campaign (held 23 September – 8 October 2023) was its best ever — the first time India crossed 100 medals at an Asian Games, and only the fourth nation to do so after China, Japan and South Korea. India finished 4th overall.
A note on the total: the Government of India recorded 107 medals — 28 gold, 38 silver, 41 bronze. Some international tallies (including the OCA-based table and Wikipedia) list 106 — 28 gold, 38 silver, 40 bronze, a difference of one bronze. Both figures are widely cited; we show both rather than pick one.
Headline (Government of India figure):
| Medal | Total |
|---|---|
| 🥇 Gold | 28 |
| 🥈 Silver | 38 |
| 🥉 Bronze | 41 (some tallies: 40) |
| Total | 107 (some tallies: 106) |
Top medal-winning sports: Athletics led the count with 29 medals (6 gold), followed by Shooting with 22 (7 gold — India’s most golds from any sport). India’s compound archery unit won all five compound golds. Standout athletes included Neeraj Chopra (javelin gold), Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Deotale (three golds each in archery), Avinash Sable, Sift Kaur Samra (50m rifle 3P gold with a world record) and the gold-winning cricket, kabaddi and men’s hockey teams.
13. Complete Asian Games 2023 Indian Gold Medalists

14. Asian Games 2023 Cash Prize
Central Government reward: Asian Games 2023 medallists were rewarded under the MYAS cash-award scheme then in force. The headline Central figures for the Asian Games were Gold ₹30 lakh, Silver ₹20 lakh, Bronze ₹10 lakh (the same headline levels later carried into the 2025-amended scheme), with the team-event and multiple-medal rules applying as described above. Awards are claimed and disbursed through the government’s process, so the amount and timing vary by athlete.
State Government reward: Separately, several state governments announced their own rewards for their 2023 medallists (states such as Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab and others have their own schemes, and the per-athlete amounts differ by state and by medal). Because these were announced individually, exact 2023 state figures should be checked against each specific state announcement rather than assumed.
Other rewards: Employers (Indian Railways, the armed forces, PSUs), national federations and private sponsors also announced rewards for various 2023 medallists.
We deliberately do not apply 2026 figures retroactively to 2023, and we do not list state amounts we cannot tie to an official announcement.

20. Frequently Asked Questions
How much is the cash prize for an Asian Games gold medal in India? The Central Government awards ₹30 lakh for an individual Asian Games gold under the MYAS scheme (₹22.5 lakh per member for a team gold). State governments can add much more — Kerala has announced ₹50 lakh, and West Bengal’s policy lists ₹5 crore.
How much is the cash prize for an Asian Games silver medal? ₹20 lakh from the Central Government for an individual silver (₹15 lakh per team member). State add-ons vary (e.g., Kerala ₹30 lakh).
How much is the cash prize for an Asian Games bronze medal? ₹10 lakh from the Central Government for an individual bronze (₹7.5 lakh per team member). State add-ons vary (e.g., Kerala ₹20 lakh).
Do Asian Games medalists get money from the Indian government? Yes. Medallists are eligible for a cash incentive under the MYAS “Scheme of Cash Incentive to Medal Winners in International Sports Events and their Coaches.” It is claimed through the government’s DBT portal, is subject to verification, and is an entitlement rather than an automatic legal right.
Do state governments give additional cash prizes? Often, yes — but only some states, and the amounts differ a lot. For 2026, Kerala has confirmed ₹30 lakh for silver medallist Vidarsa K. Vinod. Other states may or may not announce rewards for their athletes.
Is the prize money the same for every Indian athlete? No. Totals depend on the medal, whether it was an individual or team event, the athlete’s home state, and their employer. Two athletes with the same medal can end up with very different totals.
Do team-event medalists receive prize money? Yes, but at the team rate — 75% of the individual amount per member under the central scheme. The full individual figure is not paid to every member.
How many medals did India win at Asian Games 2023? The Government of India recorded 107 medals (28 gold, 38 silver, 41 bronze); some international tallies list 106 (40 bronze). Either way it was India’s best-ever Asian Games and a first-ever 100-plus haul.

Who are India’s Asian Games 2026 medal winners? So far: Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, Vidarsa K. Vinod, Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane (shooting), and Suchika Tariyal (MMA). See Section 2.
