The Lanka Premier League (abbreviated as LPL)(Sinhala: ලංකා ප්‍රිමියර් ලීග්, Tamil: லங்கா பிரீமியர் லீக்) is a professional cricket league in Sri Lanka in Twenty20 format contested every year by teams representing Sri Lankan cities from 2020. It is very similar to the Indian Premier League.

The 2022 Lanka Premier League (LPLT20) is the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It is scheduled to take place from 6 to 23 December 2022. There were plans to increase the number of teams from five to six, but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that five teams would take part, as per the first tournament.

The third season of the LPL was initially slated to be held in August, but the economic crisis engulfing the island nation forced a postponement last month.

The Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022 will start on December 6 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota, with last year’s finalists Galle Gladiators taking on Jaffna Kings in the opening game.

The first phase of the competition which consists of 14 matches, will take place at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota. Similarly, the remaining round will be hosted by R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
