The postponed edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to be held in the UAE will begin on September 19, with the final to be played on November 8. Brijesh Patel, IPL Chairman confirmed the schedule on Friday.
“We have written to the Indian government. We are expecting a reply soon. Once it comes in, an IPL governing council meeting will be called next week to finalise all the other details.”
This means IPL 2020 will be of 51 days in UAE. Still, the final schedule or Time table is not released from the BCCI Committee. Crowd limitation is still not confirmed by the BCCI or UAE government.
The Emirates Cricket Board, and SLC, had approached the BCCI with the offer of playing host to the IPL, stating that they had the required infrastructure for it. With the ICC postponing the Men’s T20 WC – originally scheduled to be held from October 18 to November 15 – a window opened up for IPL to be held.
