Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik is set to make his International League T20 (ILT20) debut after signing with Sharjah Warriorz for the upcoming Season 4. The veteran cricketer comes in as a replacement for Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis and will play under the guidance of head coach JP Duminy.
A Glorious Career Enters a New Chapter
Karthik, who announced his retirement from Indian cricket in 2024, brings over two decades of international experience. He was part of India’s historic 2007 T20 World Cup win and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy victory, along with lifting the IPL 2013 title with Mumbai Indians.
Post-retirement, the 39-year-old took up coaching with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), playing a crucial role in their maiden IPL title win in 2025. Now, he returns to competitive cricket, adding firepower and leadership to Sharjah’s squad.

During his stint as RCB’s batting coach, Karthik worked closely with Tim David, who will now be his teammate at Sharjah Warriorz. Known for his finishing skills and aggressive stroke play, Karthik is expected to strengthen Sharjah’s middle order.
