The Shriram Capitals-sponsored TNPL 2021, comprising eight teams and 32 matches, will be played over 28 days between July 19 and August 15 at MA Chidambaram Stadium. After the success of the fourth edition of TNPL again it comes with the fifth season with the same 8 teams. This time TNPL teams are playing a total of 32 matches (28 league matches, QUALIFIER – 1, QUALIFIER – 2, ELIMINATOR, and the FINAL). All matches of TNPL 2021 will be played at the Chennai Stadium i.e. MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The tournament has grown both in stature and popularity over the years, and a total of 633 players, including all the leading names, registered for the exciting TNPL-5 Player draft.

For the 2021 season, Tuti Patriots will be known as Salem Spartans, while iDream Karaikudi Kaalai will be known as iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. Nellai Royal Kings were the new entrants this year.
The eight teams participating in TNPL 2021 are Salem Spartans, Chepauk Super Gillies, LYCA Kovai Kings, Madurai Panthers, Ruby Trichy Warriors, Nellai Royal Kings, Dindigul Dragons, and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans.
TNPL 2021 will start with a match between Lyca Kovai Kings vs Salem Spartan in Chennai. This season all the matches will be played at the Chennai Venue with no audience, which means all the TNPL 2021 matches will be played behind closed doors.
The winners of TNPL-5 will take home prize money of Rs one crore, the runners-up will bag Rs 60 lakh, the third and fourth-placed teams will gain by Rs 40 lakh each and the remaining four teams will receive Rs 25 lakh each.
