PKL 2021 Auction | VIVO Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 Auction, Date, Timing, and Player List: Pro Kabaddi League 2021 season 8 is going to start from 19 July 2021. It will go on for 13 weeks like previous season. In the previous season i.e. PKL 2017, Management decided to extend the season by introducing some new teams in PKL. That was great success and people gets more connected with the Pro Kabaddi League. Once again Pro Kabaddi League is coming with eighth Season as “PKL 2021“.

The auction for the eighth edition of Pro Kabaddi League 2021 will take place in Mumbai with over 422 players set to participate in the Eighth season. Of the 422 players who will be drafted into the auction pool, 58 are overseas players and 87 are from the Future Kabaddi Heroes Programme (FKH), a nationwide talent scouting program, a press release here said.

The players have been split into five categories (A, B, C, D, and New Young Players). The players in Categories A, B, C, and D have been set a base price of Rs 20, 12, 8, and 5 lakh respectively, while the New Young Players have a fixed price of Rs 6.6 lakh.

Of the 12 teams, only nine have exercised the option to retain their star performers. Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan have retained four players each, the maximum number a franchise is allowed to. Jaipur Pink Panthers, U Mumba, UP Yoddha have chosen to not retain any of the players from last season and will use the auction to build a completely new squad.

Teams have a purse balance of Rs 4 crore each and the squad size can be between 18 and 25, including three from the Future Kabaddi Heroes programme and two to four overseas players.

The ‘Final Bid Match’ is the new addition to this season’s PKL auction, allowing teams to retain a maximum of two players by matching the final bid made by another franchise for a player.

In the case of Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan, they can use only one Final Bid Match (to retain one player), having already retained four players.

The Player Retention Policy for Season 8 has been strengthened in line with the objective of building squad continuity and stability. The Elite Player Retention cap has been increased from a maximum of 4 to a maximum of 6. Franchises can retain up to 6 Elite Players from either category A, B or C, with a maximum of two each from Category A and B.

– A Franchise may choose between 18-25 players to form a team
– A team can choose up to 3 players from the Future Kabaddi Heroes 2018 programme
– If a team has 4 Elite Retained Players, they can exercise 1 “Final Bid Match” option in open auction
– If a team has less than 4 Elite Retained Players, they can exercise 2 “Final Bid Match” options in open auction
– Number of overseas players in a team may vary from 2 to 4
– The total salary purse available to each Franchisee is INR 4 Crores
