Patna Pirates crush Jaipur Pink Panthers 37-29 in pro kabaddi league and become the first team to become champions twice in Pro kabaddi league. Patna Pirates win the final of Pro Kabaddi two seasons in a row after they beat Jaipur Pink Panthers 37 – 29 on Sunday.
The match seemed to be tilting the winners’ way in the first half after they made up for the early deficit to lead 17-11 at half-time. Patna Pirates have now become the only team to have won the title twice in the history of Pro Kabaddi.
Going into the break, Pirates had a small but valuable lead of three points with the score reading 19-16. After the interval, the lead kept swelling with Pirates dominating the proceedings.
Pirates courtesy Pardeep Narwal’s Super 10 managed a considerable lead and never allowed Pink Panthers to bounce back. Pradeep, who looked in prime touch, ended the game with 16 points and was apparently handed the Best Raider. He perhaps was the difference between the two sides. With less than five minutes left, Patna Pirates increased the lead to 10 points and led 33-23. Jasvir Singh scored his 10th point of the match in the 37th minute as Jaipur Pink Panthers trailed 24-33. Patna Pirates’ strategy in the last few minutes was to play on empty raids and it worked well as their defence didn’t make any silly mistakes. Jaipur Pink Panthers cut the lead to seven points in the 38th minute but Pardeep Narwal scored with a two-point raid to seal a historic triumph for Patna Pirates as they won 37-29.
For Pink Panthers, Captain Jasvir Singh tried his best to pull things back, but he eventually failed. Jasvir was the top scorer for his side with 13 points. Rajesh Narwal was second best for Panthers while Shabeer Bappu failed to impress.
The win concludes another thrilling season of the Pro Kabaddi. It was the season of many firsts as for the first time women’s teams locked horns in the Women’s Pro Kabaddi League. Earlier in the day, Puneri Paltan beat Telugu Titans to secure the third spot in this year’s Pro Kabaddi League. It’s over this year, but season 5 promises to be another exciting one.
The Women’s Kabaddi League competition was won by Storm Queens who beat Fire Birds 24-23 in the final clash.
