ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Set To Be Moved Out Of Pakistan

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Set To Be Moved Out Of Pakistan: The Champions Trophy, an 8-team event that will make its comeback in international cricket in 2025, is set to be moved out of Pakistan, the original designated hosts of the tournament. The Champions Trophy was last played in 2017 which Pakistan won and was set to host the much-awaited ICC tournament at home after a long time.

However, with political tensions between India and Pakistan, still boiling hot, India would not be traveling to Pakistan, if their stance continued to be the same, as it was during the Asia Cup. The tournament could be moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), or played under an Asia Cup-like hybrid model with matches scheduled in both the countries, the media reports claimed.

There were clouds hovering out Pakistan hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy after BCCI denied any chances of the Indian team traveling to Pakistan during the Asia Cup hosting issue. However, the Asia Cup was under ACC and India managed to convince other ACC members to a hybrid model, whether they can do the same for an ICC event, which includes 8 top teams in the world, is now a matter of debate.

Four Asia Cup matches were played in Pakistan, whereas, the remainder of the tournament was held in Sri Lanka.

A highly reliable source in the PCB told news agency PTI that while the ICC has marked Pakistan as the host of the tournament, the global body is yet to sign the important hosting agreement with it.

“The PCB officials said many top teams had toured Pakistan in the last two years without any security concerns.

“They also made it clear that in case of India not sending its team and its matches being moved to another country, then the ICC must compensate Pakistan for this,” the source was further quoted as saying.
