Visakhapatnam, May 13, 2023: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, launched the logo of the Vizag Warriors cricket franchise at a grand ceremony held in Visakhapatnam on May 11, 2023.
The league will feature several franchises from different parts of Andhra Pradesh, providing an opportunity for young players from rural areas to showcase their talent on the big stage.
In his address, Chief Minister emphasized the importance of promoting sports and providing opportunities for young talent in the state of Andhra Pradesh to achieve their dreams of playing at the national and international levels.
The Chief Minister’s participation in the event underscores the Government’s commitment to promoting sports and providing a platform for young talent in Andhra Pradesh.
Dr. Srinubabu Gedela, CEO of Pulsus Group and owner of Vizag Warriors, along with Narendra Ram, said that the Vizag Warriors franchise is a mix of experienced players and young local talent, which will help in the overall development of cricket in the state.
“The Vizag Warriors cricket franchise will play a significant role in promoting cricket in Andhra Pradesh. The franchise will be a mix of national and Indian Premier League players, and we have plans to add new players along with young local talent. Vizag Warriors will provide a platform for young cricketers to hone their skills, play alongside experienced players, and learn from them, we will have a team size of 16 to 20 players.” Srinubabu added.
APL will have in total of 28 matches. The highly anticipated APL season 2 will be a treat for cricket fans, as some of the best talents from Andhra Pradesh will be showcasing their best and competing for the trophy. All the matches of the Andhra Premier League season 2 will be hosted in Visakhapatnam and Kadapa.
The Andhra Cricket Association will oversee the administration of cricket in Andhra Pradesh. The ACA will be responsible for the development of cricket infrastructure, the organization of tournaments, and the promotion of APL in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
