Asia Cup 2022: Sri Lanka Announce Their 20-Member Squad

Sri Lanka on Saturday (20th August) announced their 17-member squad for Asia Cup 2022. Ashen Bandara returns to the side as a middle-order batter for the Asia Cup 2022.

Sri Lanka has picked five batsmen, two-wicket keeper-batters, one fast bowling all-rounder, one spinning all-rounder, three specialist spinners, and three pacers. Taking a close look at the squad, Lankan lions will reach Dubai for Asia Cup 2022 with nine batters, (All-rounders included in both batting and bowling unit) four spinners, and four fast bowlers.

Matheesha Pathirana, the little Malinga finds his place in the squad. He is a very exciting young prospect and has done a fine job at the domestic level. He will try to make the most of this opportunity to get picked for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and find a permanent spot in the team.

Sri Lanka finds itself in Group B in the Asia Cup pitted against Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The mighty Asia Cup 2022 will commence on 27th August (Saturday) between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan and the final will be played on 11th September in Dubai. Bangladesh will meet Afghanistan on the 30th of August 2022. It will be a great match and on the 1st of September 2022, Sri Lanka will take on Bangladesh.
