Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises will be pretty happy after a new-look financial model for the PSL 2022. Ramiz Raja the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been on song since he has taken command of Pakistan Cricket, he has been working on setting up the right platform for Pakistan Cricket and solving the financial hurdles of PSL which has been a matter of concern for Pakistan Cricket.
Franchises like Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi were paid less as compared to Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, this financial model will hugely benefit them. The central revenue pool has been increased courtesy of the new financial model and PCB has decided to provide 95 percent to the franchisees who are paid less.
The credit for this goes to Ramiz Raja, who listened to the franchises and agreed with their demands. One franchise official told that after new agreements, the center pool revenue will be increased and all the teams will get an advantage from it.
It is estimated that if the franchises remove the expenses like players’ travel and living expenses, salaries, they will still get a huge profit this time around. Franchisees will also bag PKR200million from sponsors with respect to brand value.
The brand value of PSL gets a boost.
Before, the brand value of PSL was roundabout PKR 75,000 but it has got a fillip as it is now PKR 1.3M more or less. As claimed by sources, PCB signed a Television rights deal for PSL 7 for PKR 4.35 Billion while they also got title sponsorship for PKR 3.5 Billion more or less. The live-streaming rights also saw quite a substantial increase.
Karachi Kings will also earn a healthy amount of profit keeping in mind that they are bearing Television’s right expenses.
The older committee had offered very less profits to the franchises but Ramiz Raja has done an incredible job by removing the financial hurdles and doing his best to bring Pakistan Cricket into a better position. PCB will hope for a lot of overseas players to feature in PSL.
It can be clearly seen that Ramiz Raja is doing his best to take Pakistan cricket towards betterment. There are a lot of things Ramiz Raja has been working on and he doesn’t sit peacefully until he does the job. Pakistan cricket has seen a lot of positives after the takeover of Ramiz Raja like PSL is now happening in Pakistan and many financial hindrances are now been removed.
The PSL 7 will commence from 27 January to 27 February. The first encounter will be played between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans. The PSL 7 will be limited to two venues Lahore and Karachi and the final will be played in Lahore on 27 February.
