A majestic innings from Virat Kohli helped India keep their World Twenty20 hopes very much alive thanks to a six-wicket victory over Pakistan at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
On a difficult, turning pitch, Pakistan had set what looked a highly competitive total of 118 from 18 overs in a match that was shortened by a rain delay of about an hour.
But India ultimately reached it with a degree of comfort, in large part thanks to a superb 55 not out from 37 balls from Kohli, who belied the struggles the other batsmen had endured.
Not only does it maintain India’s hopes in this tournament but it continues their 100 percent record over Pakistan in Twenty20 and 50-over World Cups to 11 victories.
